St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is the oldest Orthodox church in Alabama. It was established by a community of coal workers in 1894, and has been active ever since. Father Paul Davis and his wife Matushka Brigid have served this parish for decades along with the faithful descendents of the families which established it. Father Paul has been Rector of St Nicholas since shortly after his ordination in 2013.
